“It’s All About The Visual”

I never imagined when I was growing up that life was going to be such a treacherous road. Each year passes faster, faces fade, things change. It’s not all sunshine, It’s not as easy as I thought, and yes momma said there’d be days like this. We spend our whole young adult years wishing to be older. Then all of a sudden you wake up and you’re there. I don’t know about you all, but high school was definitely not as bad as it seemed. Only having 20 dollars to go hang out with your friends, or waking up to go to basketball practice at 5:30, getting in trouble for sneaking out. Those moment are more precious than you think. It’s absolutely positively true, those are the good ole day’s! Your high-school day’s are certainly something you shouldn’t take for granted. You’ll want them back sooner than you realize at least I know I do.

I received a text from one of my old teammates, we lost one of our basketball coaches this past week. My Deepest sympathy and condolences go out to all the family and friends. I truly hate the fact that more times than not tragedy, bad circumstances, and accidents are the only time that most of us slow down and reflect. Think about memories made, think about times you’ve shared, and the impact made by certain people in your life.

Going through life, make sure you don’t forsake the past, the past bring’s you to the present, the past impacts your future. It doesn’t make you, its doesn’t define you. It shapes you, it strengthens you, it’s building something, you just can’t see it yet.

It’s like constructing a house, no matter how small or unimportant some things seem. If you take all the small pieces away, your house wouldn’t be the same. In fact you would be missing half of it.

More often than not, It’s the little things that matter the most!

For as long as I can remember I allowed myself to be controlled by my past.

It created a fog so dense and so thick, I truly thought I’d never see the light break through. I began to forget what life is all about. It’s not money, it’s not possessions, it’s not being better than someone else. It’s about the impressions and impacts you make on the people around you.

Its about honoring your word.

It’s about so much more than your job, your achievements, or your trophy cases. Every morning I wake up with the ability to choose. That’s the most beautiful thing you have In your arsenal. Place a High Value on choices you make in life. They have proven to be extremely important. For every negative action there is a negative reaction. I can choose to be negative complain, and have an aura of arrogance. I can choose to be haughty. I can choose to act like I’m better or more important than the next person. That could be your coworkers, friends, your customers, your family, it could be anyone. Notice I used the word act, that’s all it is! A front, a facade if you will, get that man an Oscar! At the end of the day, It’s acting and that’s all it is.

Don’t spend your life with a deranged visualization that you mean more than the next person. I’ve come to the realization that if you slow down and really give effort you can feel and see the struggles of others.

Put yourself in their shoes. You don’t know that’s a single mother with 3 kids, you don’t know that guy had to walk to make it to work today. That “weird” looking kid, he has a mental disorder, that “dumb” kid, didn’t have any parents, that old drunk bum, he’s a veteran. The list goes on and on and on, it’s truly infinite.

I’m no better than the next.

No matter your profession, no matter your wealth, no matter what, we are all the same. If you were to have some sort of tragedy, and not make it to see tomorrow, the world would still be rotating on it’s axis. The sun would still shine, you have to realize that! Don’t for a second think think if your eliminated from the equation that it’s the end. You’ll find yourself sadly mistaken if you do.

Wake up and make a choice every day that you’re given to make a positive impact on everyone around you. Regardless of what they’ve done. Two wrongs will never make a right. Positivity is radiant and its vibrant.

Radiate positivity through your language, thoughts, empathy, sympathy, and most importantly, be a positive presence.

Use you’re abilities no matter what they may be, make a difference. Smile more often, cry more often, eliminate your frustrations by doing something for someone unexpectedly. The greatest joys in life come from giving to others, not taking. Don’t do it for returns, do it because your genuine. Don’t do it for the wrong reasons. Impact change by not allowing the outside looks, the chatter, or your “reputation” to change your vision. You can change any situation your in! You can uplift and encourage through your positive attitude.

Don’t lose sight of where you came from. It is your story. You choose the script, you choose the ending! Whether its Good, whether it’s bad, you own It! No one else! Don’t be ashamed to let people see the real you!

Your past doesn’t precede your future, it proceeds your future. It shapes your character, it makes you stronger, it gives you wisdom. Don’t become blinded by what other people think. Because when your finally able to see those rays of light, shining through the dark morning fog. You’ll be awakened to the truth! You have much greater potential and purpose!

“I alone control my future, no one else can make me open my eyes, you have to see it for yourself.”

  1. Brother that’s the realest thing I’ve heard in quite a while I hope your doing well and keep doing you noone else does it better and know that I love you and if you need me I may be in Afghanistan but distance never let someone go unspoken or an ear never be there to listen if someone needs it I needed this especially when I’m so far away that you do feel unimportant at times and that everything back home is going on just fine without you being there
